Sasha and I were chatting today about this, that, and the other thing. One of the topics we hit upon was writing. (Go figure! :confused: ) She likes to concentrate on one story at a time. I always have at least three ms going at once. All in all, we have to do what works best for each of us individually. Alison needs sunshine, Larissa needs her husband to be working, and Stephanie needs the radio blasting.
But as for mss… Do you concentrate on just one at a time? And if you do work on separate mss concurrently are they all of the same sub-genre? Or do you scramble them up like me? I think Cece has always got a few things she’s working on, but I think they’re all of the same sub-genre. (Correct me if I’m wrong, Cece!)
I’m not saying or implying that any one way is better than another and I’m not looking to change my style because it keeps me productive, I’m simply curious. :rolleyes:
So ‘fess up, how do you do it?
I can really only work on one MS at a time, but my mind is always working to sketch out the next MS–and sometimes, much to the detriment of the current MS! :laugh:

I work on at least 2 at a time - right now, one of them is more of a romantic suspsense and one of them is my contemporary light paranormal stuff. That way, if I get stuck, I can move from one to the other. For instance, I’m working on a paranmormal-ish trilogy, but don’t want each story to sound too much like the other - I find throwing in a suspense ms keeps my writing fresher for the paranormals.

I’ve discovered if I want to finish the book I have to work on one project at a time. If it’s a matter of getting partials together, then I can work on several projects at once. I do find I’m much slower when I split my attention this way, but I’m hoping that changes once I get into the habit of working on multiple projects.

I prefer to work on more than one WIP at once. I also prefer that they be in different genres– I like to work on a historical and a contemporary, or a contemporary and a paranormal. If I get bored with one (or stuck), I can go work on the other for a while!
