Still dragging…

WORD Challenge = 15 pages

…but I managed to edit 15 pages and tinker with the site. I know, I know. I’m supposed to be editing like mad, but I got in the mood to procrastinate and one thing led to another.

However, I’ve passed the half way point in my ms!!!! *happy dance*

My mom called today to make plans for Thanksgiving. I can’t believe the holidays are here already. Where did the year go? Lucky for me, Christmas is my favorite holiday. Pretty soon, I’ll get to dig in the rafters of the garage for my Christmas decorations.

In other news, Sasha introduced me to the jump drive while she was here. I freakin’ love the thing!! Instead of having a ton of floppy disks everywhere, I have a tiny, key sized drive that stores everything. I backed up my message board (if only I’d done that before…) and all of my mss and crits and e-books and VIPrograms. I’ve barely put a dent in the memory. It’s quite simply fantastic!!

Oh… and remind me to tell you about the Margarita popsicle!!!

Must write, must write, must write

WORD Challenge = 4 pages edited, 34 cut

Sasha is on plane back to Alberta as I type. The visit was fabulous and I can’t wait to hang out with her again. We’re so alike in some ways and very different in others, but we laughed so hard and had such a good time that I’m already planning my trip to Canada. And then there’s Reno…

I’m behind on my WORD goals so I’ll be spending this weekend hopefully catching up. I have to admit, I’m exhausted. We spent very little time sleeping and a lot of time running around. The hotel retreat was nice, but we had a spot of trouble with Sasha’s e-mail and accessing the web through her laptop. And of course, my laptop blew up within hours of our arrival.

I hope everyone is doing well. There’s quite a few of you I haven’t heard from in a while. :???:

Who is the fairest of them all?

WORD Challenge = 10 pages

Okay, so Sasha wanted to go to Barnes & Noble since she’s never been to one before. So we go. Now my B&N is huge, since it’s the only bookstore around for miles and miles, but they don’t have a designated erotica section. Everything is just kinda mixed in together (except for Brava, who had their own designated end cap). Sasha is going around trying to locate the books she wants, which couldn’t be found in the romance section (like the Sookie Stackhouse books). While she is standing in front of me and talking to both the clerk and I, something catches my eye and I get a glimpse of…

The wicked step-mother queen from Snow White.

I frown, hesitant to say anything. I don’t feel stoned, but hell! It’s not Halloween anymore, hasn’t been for weeks. I continue to stare in that direction and I see her again, just for a split second as she passes between book displays.

“Did you see that?” I interrupt Sasha.

“See what?”

“The queen.”

She arches a brow. “Huh? What the f@ck are you talking about?”

“Over there.” I point. “The wicked witch, step-mother… oh hell, whatever the f@ck she is.”

“From The Cat in the Hat?”

I scowl. “What the hell are you talking about? There’s a wicked witch in The Cat in the Hat?”

She scowls. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“The witch from Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella. I swear I just saw her over there.”

“Okay…” Sasha stares at me as if I lost my mind. “Can I find my book now?”

I sigh. “Yes. Forget it.”

I swear I saw the queen and I was lucid. I swear.

Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain photo Take a close look at the photo and tell me what you see…

We watched the parade. Let me tell you, Tarzan was HOT!!! Romance hero material with gorgeous muscles and abs.

There is so much going on that I want to share with you, but I’m exhausted. I’ll blog in the morning.

*UPDATE* 11/11 10:45 am
Okay, I’m a bit more awake today. Disneyland was fun, even more fun was the opportunity to talk to another writer. All week, we’ve been bouncing ideas off of each other and discussing issues that would have taken hours of typing. The trade off, of course, is that I am way behind on my WORD goals. I wish I had the luxury of taking my time with this edit, but I don’t. It has to be finished by the end of this month and I have about 250 pages to go. So I’m working on it today. Hopefully, I’ll be able to edit at least ten pages which will keep me from falling another day behind.

I hope everyone is doing well.

We’re off to see the Wizard.

Sorry I didn’t wrap up my post yesterday, but Sasha blogged all about it, and lazy me, I told her, “Yay! Now I can just send people to read your entry.”

Today is Disneyland. I’m looking forward to it. We go every year, but as a family. This will be the first time in about a decade that I’ll actually go with just one other adult!! Plans are to take tons of pictures to share with everyone. Have a great day everyone!!

Writer’s Retreat

WORD Challenge = 0

Our writer’s retreat starts tomorrow!! Sasha and I are pretty excited. Today we had lunch on the patio of a mexican restaurant and drank a pitcher of yummy slushy margaritas.

We’ll be staying at an Embassy Suites. With a living room, wet bar, free booze at the Manager’s Reception from 5-7 every night, and full cooked-to-order breakfast every morning, we’ll be living it up!

We plan to stock up the fridge with everything our hearts could desire and write until we drop. Sitting in my pj’s all day and writing without chasing the kids around is just going to be heaven for me!!!

My mom is taking us out to dinner tomorrow. Should be fun!! We’ll keep you all posted.
