One editor down…

I received final approval on my Black Lace story today, which brings with it a sigh of relief. *sigh*

In between edits to Lucien, I’ve been updating the website. My poor webdesigner. Every time she thinks she’s done with me, at least for a while, I come back to haunt her again. I need some more gifs, namely “Order Now” gifs. So exciting!

I’ve also been working on getting my name out there and introducing myself to readers and other authors. The absolutely amazing and wonderful thing is the Brava Authors. They’ve been wonderful with their e-mails and support and offers for help. I think I’ve heard from the majority of them (though nowhere near all of them) and I consider myself extremely lucky to join their group.

So that’s where I am so far today.

2005 is going to be a BIG year for the Write or Die group. I keep thinking that in a few years, we’ll still be the WORD group, but all big names. Hopefully we’ll still be a tight bunch. Think of the promos we could do together. We could buy two-page spreads in RT and RWR, sharing the financial burden. (I can see the spread in my mind! Of course by then our publishers may be doing such things for us.) We could do signings together, attend conferences together. Good grief we’d have so much fun and be able to get so much accomplished.

Ahhh… the dreams that sustain us.

The Symphony of Writing

I had grand plans when I got up this morning at the butt crack of dawn. I was going to get so many pages edited today. In my head, it was going to be so simple. Last night I went through and cut what could be cut and so this morning I just had to polish what was left. I like every scene, so it’s just a few word changes and altering of some sentence structure because I’ve learned so much since I first wrote this story. Piece of cake, right? But I forgot to factor in the symphony of writing.

I’m not certain if anyone else hears it or uses it. We all have individual ways with which we approach our writing. My way of writing uses a cadence. Alison once called it “the lyricism” of my voice.

Basically, I hear a rhythm to my writing, some people call it “the flow”. It’s not one instrument, but a symphony, consisting of the sentence, then the paragraph, then the scene, then the chapter, then the story as a whole. All of it must sound beautifully or I’m not satisfied. To me it’s like listening to music where one of the instruments is out of tune. It completely wipes out the beauty of the other instruments.

Just to prove…

…that I’m not golden, I received another agent rejection today on my Golden Opportunity winning entry, which is also a Gateway to the Rest finalist.

The really screwed thing is, if I presented them with my Brava deal, they’d snatch it up. After all, they wouldn’t have to do any work, but they’d still get paid. *shakes head*

    I’ve lost my mind.

I took a sheet of paper.

I wrote down all of the people I need to have Christmas presents for. (No gift suggestions. Just names.)

    I gave it to Hubby.

And sent him on his way.

    ***************
    UPDATE

Okay. Hubby blew me away. He purchased almost everything (minus two gifts) and the gifts were all awesome!!! Way better than I would have done.

Of course, I’m afraid to look at the bank account…
