While editing story #2, I came to a key emotional scene, “The Black Moment”. And I cried. 
I felt so bad for my hero, my sweet darling Lucien, who just lost his love.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who gets worked up over their characters while they’re writing.

I’m so glad Alison posted that she doesn’t do this, because I don’t either. Although I admit I cry when reading OTHER books. LOL Writing them, mostly I’m pretty unemotional.

One of my favorite quotes ahout writing is from Robert Frost: “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader.” Being a bit hardhearted, like Alison, I don’t actually usually cry over my manuscripts… but I do get a wee bit choked up every now and again. I guess what really matters is that the writer gets emotionally involved in the manuscript, regardless of whether actual tears are shed or not!

Yeah, Teresa, but is that because the scene makes you sad or just because you hate having to write! LOLOL! Cuz I cry a lot when it comes to the latter!

Nope. Never cried about a single one of ‘em. LOL! I’ll laugh at things they say, but nothing I write ever gets to me besides that. I’m a cold hearted snake! Ha!

I do it too! When I wrote the end of CDC I bawled my eyes out and it was weeks before I could go back and read it and not cry again (had to wait until the kids were gone to even write it and put it off for a week just so I could be alone!).:oops:

Um, Sylvia - remember me? I can get worked up over my characters when I’m not writing about them. So when I’m actually writing about them, well - suffice it to say I understand. Completely.:grin:

I think that’s WONDERFUL. I have one character in a book I’m getting ready to kill off again (rewrite) and it’s breaking my heart. I bawl just thinking about it.
