When I’m done with story #3, I’m switching gears to something futuristic. I need a change. I went from months of editing ATM, to months working on Brava stuff, plus the Arabella/AQ rewrite. I’m all historicalled out. (I know that’s not a word, please bear with me.)
On a positive note, I’ve only got one more entry to judge. I should have the packet in the mail by Tues. Yay!!!
I didn’t make my WORD Challenge goal, which was to finish story #3, edit, polish, and submit it. I can tell already that I’ll be sending this ms in the day of my deadline and not a moment sooner.
I don’t know if anyone is up for another WORD challenge. I think most of us dropped out long before the end, but it’s there, if anyone wants to start one for February.
I’m buying a new laptop tomorrow, since the ancient one I had literally burned up while Sasha was here visiting.
I’m looking forward to the freedom of moving around and getting away from the internet, which is my biggest distraction.
I’m registering for Nationals tomorrow too and booking the hotel room. I meant to do it last week and got distracted.
I tell you. My brain is fried.
I get mail, intend to reply, and the next thing I know I’m just remembering a few days later. Only a few more days to go…

Ack! I didn’t meet my WORD goal either.
I haven’t had much time online to post in the forum either.

I feel bad I didn’t meet my WORD goals *blushing guiltily* but I wound up doing a lot more editing (on two different manuscripts) than I had originally foreseen. I really have to get “Farthest Space” written, but with the baby coming, I ain’t making any commitments this month:-). Maybe in March!
I know what you mean about being “historicalled out”– if I don’t switch genres every so often, I get really bored with writing. I don’t know how people can stand limiting themselves to one genre, but I guess it depends on the writer.

Jordan,
I really want to attend the RT convention, but I couldn’t afford both this year and since I’ve never gone to Nationals I thought I should. I’ll go to Nationals next year too, as I look forward to participating in the Literacy Book Signing. Hopefully, I’ll have enough stashed away in my writing career spending fund to attend both next year.

Sylvia, It’s always good to switch gears from time to time. After I finish going through the changes I’m making to my two paranormal manuscripts I am going to work on something contemporary. Good luck with the laptop switch. My dh just received a new laptop from Dell also. This thing has all the bells and whistles and cost more than our two home computers combined. It’s a good thing his company paid for it.
You’re going to enjoy RWA National. It has to be better than last year. I still don’t know if I’m going to make it to that one. I just paid for the Romantic Times Convention, which I can’t believe is actually more expensive.

Thanks for the laptop suggestion. I’ll look into it. Light and fast works for me!!

You sound like me , Sylvia! January was a hell of a month and I’m just crossing my fingers that February will be better! I just bought a new laptop and I am so in love with it. It’s a Dell Inspiron 700M and only weighs 4 pounds and is just so dang fast. I upgraded it when I bought it, to make sure I had a powerful machine! It was pretty reasonable, I thought.
Good luck with everything!
