I’ll be blogging about this when I get up. I’m so darn tired now, I can’t think properly.
****Update****
Okay. So I ran through story #3 one last time and checked out a final crit (”This is great!” and “I loved it!” being music to my ears after the blood and sweat I poured into this story.). I have two more cps to hear from and then it’s completely done. I’m elated and relieved. It’s a rush, a high when you complete a story and realize you made another world exist. You created people, you made them real, you showed them love. That is why I write romance. A week ago I wondered if I’d ever write another book. The inspiration wouldn’t come, I had no new ideas.
But of course I’ll write another.
I’m addicted to that high, that rush I feel when the story is done. Not just completed, but crafted and polished, ready to be seen. I’m addicted to the pride I feel in my story. I think it’s good and maybe, just maybe, somebody else will think so too.
It’s a grand beginning, a writer’s first published book. I drained everything I had into it. One of my cps said, “You can tell you love [the characters].” And I do. I didn’t cut corners, I made it the best I possibly could with the skills I possess at the moment. I obsessed over scenes, worried over wording, cried over the Black Moments. In the end, I hope it shows.
I’ve got a year to go before I find out how you all feel about this book. I hope you like it. I hope I’ll have more sales to share soon. I hope I’ll be more confident now that I’ve leapt the first big hurdle. I hope I learn how to manage my time better and how to force my imagination to work on demand, not just when inspiration strikes. I hope I figure out how to wade the publishing waters, how to market my work effectively, how to keep my foot out of my mouth.
What happens after you finish the terms of your first contract?
You hope.
I hope.

[...] e a break from my historicals when I was done with BBA, but CC is historical and as Alison reminded me, I’m under option for my next historical work. I have a ST historica [...]
I love how you explained how you feel about finishing the book and how it feels to hear “I love it!” It’s just a wonderful feeling. Can’t wait to see how it all comes out a year from now, and I’ll bet you love the characters just as much then as you do now. Good luck and hope to hear of future sales soon!

Sylvia, enjoy the high! Then you move on to the next one and the next one. The highs are so addicting.
What do you do now that you’re done and drained and you’ve put your heart and soul into your book?
You start all over again.
And then again.
I’m sure everything will work out. Your first book will be great, and you’ll sell again soon. You’re on a roll, Sylvia!
You come up with another proposal and send it to your editor and hope like h*ll she wants to buy it.
Well, you probably have an option clause. So you haven’t finished the terms until you submit a new project! :):):):):)
