Let’’s see if I can trip a trigger.
Tis funny, but during the brief period I had the Pink Lilies template up, and another one I can’t remember, I couldn’t keep up with deleting the spam. But with the default version, and the Gemini one I’m using now, I’ve had two spam messages. And I don’t have any spam stuff.
*knocks on wood* *twice*
Hopefully going weapons grade medieval will help you!
I can’t speak for everyone, but when I had 1.2.2 installed, I got no spam. Yesterday I had 100 pieces, today almost 200. It’s a backdoor issue with 1.5, but no one on the forums can tell me what it is. They can only recommend different plug-ins that work with varying effectiveness. By that I mean they either moderate every single comment so even legitimate commenters can’t post or they don’t work and let the spam come through anyway.
I’m just about to switch to Expression Engine, I swear. This is far more trouble than it’s worth. (And that’s saying something since EE is $200)
*sigh* I’ve contemplated that, but with the upgrade to 1.5 a few tables in the database were deleted because they’re no longer necessary. When I restored after my first failed upgrade attempt, it was unable to rebuild those tables so 1.2.2 returned errors in certain areas of the admin panel.
And yes, $200 is a lot of money. I freely admit to spending more money on my blog than the rest of my site combined and I don’t relish the thought of spending more money on it. Plus I’m really comfortable with WP. I’ve been using it for a long time. Aside from the spam issue it handles all of my needs perfectly.

by Shannon March 2nd, 2005 at 5:36 pmThought you just upgraded to WP 1.5? That’s supposed to kill spam. If it doesn’t, maybe upgrading is not my answer.

by SylviaHave you considered going back to 1.2.2? Because it’s true, I get almost none. And $200’s a lot of money!

by SylviaOh, talk to Walt about Expression Engine before you go there. He knows about the bad stuff they have going on!!!
by Alison March 2nd, 2005 at 7:15 pmYikes, okay, nevermind. He says it’s their free version that he’s heard so many horror stories on!
