Boy, I *hate* writing synopses!!!!!!! But on the other hand, I *do* need to write some kind of an outline or I panic and think that I can't possibly work out how to finish the book! Or worse, it goes insanely off the rails in a way that's beyond fixing... Her reasoning was she wanted the story to enfold as she read it. And now I'm on submission for my book and I never gave a synopsis. I literally wrote all my syns for contests, and never finaled in one.
