I’ve spent the last four days editing one chapter.
It’s always like this for me with edits. Some passages go by with only a few minor tweaks and some need to be rewritten. It’s usually easier to just scrap and start over, but I always insist on trying to make it work as is. This is called stubbornness and I’m suffering the effects of this mightily. Argh. However, I did find the groove in the last scene of the chapter that will carry over into the next chapter, so I’m very happy about that.
In other news, Catching Caroline is finished and ready for its June 12th release date. Copies have gone out for reviews, which is a bit scary. While my editor’s multiple happy faces give me some hope that it will be received well, I still worry the extrememly short length (8,100 words) won’t satisfy. I guess I’ll hear the general consensus soon enough…

*shudders at editing* I know it’s for the greater good, but I’m with you – it’s like pulling teeth. Hope things go quicker for you!
I love this one::pirate:
Thanks, Ellen!
Chey,
Then the galleys came and I edited that too. I doubt I’ll ever be more than 75% happy with a story. I’ve decided that once a story have been approved for final print I can never, ever read it again.
I did go nuts. Another day on that chapter and I’d have lost it for sure. I once spent 16 days editing one chapter. I was about to cry with despair when a crit really pulled it together for me. I’m very, very anal. The editor at AQP laughed during edits because she sent me my story with one sentence suggestion and a lot of happy faces. I sent it back to her covered in red.
I’d go nuts spending that much time editing one chapter. LOL. I’m to ADHD to do that. I will work on one chapter a day, depending on whether or not it’s writing or rewriting that chapter, but I tend to go a bit faster.
Congrat’s on the upcoming release!
Oooh, I can’t wait to read CATCHING CAROLINE! It’s not far off now, is it??
