A whole day without a blog

Not that you noticed or missed me. *g*

I’ve spent the last few days looking at what career moves I’ve made or haven’t made, what worked so far and what hasn’t. I’m throwing out the bath water, and so far, it’s such a HUGE relief. I think creative people have a tendency to let things fester in the backs of their minds, little things that you don’t realize are weighing on you until you get rid of them. What a huge boost to the mind to feel like things are working as they should. :)

In other, far more important, news– Larissa has lost everything in the Katrina devastation. Her home is completely submerged. Can you imagine how awful that is? You can help by going here.

Hmmm…

I’ve had this chapter I’m working on right now completely planned out for two days. I also know what I’m going to write in the next chapter too. I could have written both yesterday. Instead I find my attention wandering all over the place.

Time for me!

My mom came over last night, and picked up my kids. Hubby went to a friend’s house to help rebuild a boat engine. So I get the whole house to myself!! :yay: This is so cool! I didn’t even plan it. :cheer:

So it’s all about the writing today. (Just like every other day  *g*) Somewhere, I read a comment from an author who said they always finished their writing day when there was still more to write. This is something I have to force myself to do, because I don’t take notes or keep a file folder of scene ideas. I’ve learned if I don’t get it on paper now I will lose the train of thought. With this new book I’m working on, I have so many scenes in my head that I’ve started writing shorthand scribbles on a piece of scrap paper to remind me. I’ve also started writing down a sentence that will start off the next scene before I go to bed, so when I get up, I can just take off.

Do you have a method of setting up your ms to get you going the next day? Or are you playing it by ear?

BTW, are there any of you out there who like to read medical romances?

Taboos

Not Just for TonightYa know. *g* I’m not so worried about them anymore. My hubby brought home Not Just for Tonight, and the first story (written by the fabulous Susan Johnson) has the heroine witnessing intercourse between the hero and another woman. (this is a historical set in 1889) This act of voyeurism so incites her that once the other woman leaves, she spends the rest of the night with the hero. It was well-written, and the hero likeable, but I admit to being surprised by the scenario and dialogue such as when the hero departs to find condoms and returns in new clothes, he tells that heroine that he washed up so as not to offend her.

Anyway, this is one of the reasons I love writing for Kate Duffy and Brava–being able to go places that I’m not seeing other imprints go.

All right, back to work for me.

Wow, I’m happy!

I’m pretty happy with my progress. I started this ms ten days ago, and it’s 25% finished. That’s with taking two days off for additions to my last turned in ms.

I hope I keep this up. :cafe:

How are you doing?
