I spent the last couple of days working on edits for Misled. I had to remove a lot of commas, since they’re distracting in the e-format. My editor also pointed out a spot where I’d written “channel” to describe a vagina. Huh? Where the hell did that come from? No clue, and I told her that. I must have been asleep at the wheel. *g* Her comment: “A more graphic word here, please.” I was also asked to add a sex scene, which I did. So the book has grown 7000 words in the course of edits. There are still more edits to do, as the process goes in rounds. I’m hopeful, however, that we’ll get this story ready to go and you can buy it. I’m
that I don’t have any of my futuristic stories available for sale yet.
Just for fun, from Diana:
Which Princess Bride Character are You?

I’m Wesley! Love the Princess Bride.
We share the same editor, Sylvia and I really had to laugh when I got my first round of edits back. It appears that I’m comma-happy, too. And I head-hop too much. And phraseology that I thought was pretty damn hot and scintillating was marked: “This sounds too clinical. You need to be more graphic here.†One of my gaffes was actually using the word “vagina†during a sex scene rather than a more…um, “juicy†euphemism. LOL Also, I was overly descriptive: “You’ve already told us this several times. Could you please cut some of this out.†I saw a lot of that request throughout the manuscript.
Of course, this didn’t surprise me a bit because I suffer greatly from that dreaded writer’s maladyâ€â€verbosity (just look at those tomes on my blog!). My poor editor has her work cut out for her!
Just had to comment again, re. ‘channel’. Editing my latest WIP, I find that I’ve used it myself… but I won’t be changing it! It actually works *perfectly* in the context…
Sympathies on the commas. I had exactly the same problem!
My first round of edits was almost entirely about removing commas. I love my commas, which, as you said, is a problem in the e-format.
 on the ‘channel’ description. Amazing what we don’t catch in our own editing process, isn’t it?
channel, huh? Well, at least it’s original!!
LOL @ Channel.
