I’ve been working on this chapter for five days. Argh!
I write a couple lines, go do something. Write another sentence, go do something else. It’s ridiculous.
It makes the work so much harder, because I repeat words. An hour passes, and I don’t remember I already used a particular word. I wish I could say this is an unusual circumstance, but that’s not true. I’m writing a sex scene (read: entire chapter) and since most of my character growth happens during sex, they’re always my most difficult scenes to write. My characters are not the same at the end of a sex scene as they were before it, so weaving in the GMC between bumping and grinding is very time consuming. This difficulty gets worse with every book I write, LOL, because I’m growing as a writer (I think) so I have more work to do with each successive novel.
Anyway, I’m finally wrapping up this chapter now. *sigh* :cheer:

Glad you’re about to wrap it up and move on. I find the sex scenes take me a long time to write quite often too. Make it different. Make it fit the characters. Show some growth (CHARACTER growth! get your mind out of the gutter!! :naughty: )

How funny! DH and I were just talking about character growth during sex scenes last night. I was trying to explain why it’s so hard for me to write short erotic romance, because every sex scene has to pack in a lot of character growth. He looked at me dubiously and said, “I don’t think *I* ever grew as a character during sex.” To which I replied, “Yes, but you were already perfect, dear.” *Snort*
Anyway, sex scenes are hard for me to write, too, and that’s exactly the reason why. Glad yours is wrapping up!
