Before I forget, Renee Luke and I will chatting together at Fallen Angels tonight. 9PM EST
Somebody stop me.
I keep checking my Amazon sales ranking, even though it makes absolutely no sense to me. It’s an illness.
Also Amazon says they’re shipping Bad Boys Ahoy! starting Jan. 3rd. This is a few weeks before the actual “on sale” date. There are a few other sites that say they’re shipping starting the 3rd, too.
Then you have shamalamadingdong selling my book on eBay for $7.49. Uh, hello?? Is this legal? I am so new at this, I don’t know. But also on sale is Alison Kent’s Goes Down Easy for $1. A DOLLAR.
Do we make money off of this? :pirate: Must e-mail Alison and pick her brain…

Well, that’s good. At least he’s ligit? It’s just the name, Shamalamadingdong just doesn’t sound professional for some reason. Wonder why?

Correction. He’s selling published copies of yours, too. He’s selling them for shipment in 2006, so he looks like a legit bookseller. He says these are preorders, not yet released.

Yours is an ARC which is ethically not allowed as Ellen says. Mine is a new book, selling for $1.04 with shipping of $4.97 and is not shipping until January. Me thinks he makes his money on the shipping since he can ship media mail for $1.42.

The only way anyone could be selling your book this far in advance of its sale date is if they got an ARC. (Otherwise Dingdong must just be ripping people off, I guess.) Are the ARCs out? Publishers don’t like people to resell ARCs, and they slap DO NOT RESELL all over the cover in big letters, but as far as I have been able to find out it’s technically legal to resell an ARC.
Legal and ethical are two different things, of course, and most review sites frown on their reviewers reselling the ARCs. But some of them go for breathtaking amounts of money– I recently heard of a bestselling author’s ARC going for $150. It’s like used book sales, though; you don’t get a royalty.
