I won’t post it all here, you can go read the actual stuff about the book yourself, but the part about her ‘judging a book by its cover’ just killed me.
“I must admit that I was pretty skeptical about this novel when I got it in the mail, but after reading just 3 pages I put aside all my preconceived notions and enjoyed every page of the read!
This book has many bad things I can say about it, but none of them about the writing or story telling ability of Sylvia Day who with this first book swept into the Romantica scene and left me hot, bothered, and breathlessly awaiting her next novel. As I said before, when I got this book in the mail I turned to my boyfriend and flat out mocked it. I mean it’s an anthology of erotic stories all written by the same author (what she couldn’t write one full book?), it’s a Regency set book with the horrific title Bad Boys Ahoy! (hmm that’s a title that screams Regency doesn’t it?), and the cover is not only garishly colored but has a pirate ship and two kissing fish on it! (Look at it. I mean LOOK at it!). And yet by the third page I was laughing out loud and totally engrossed.

Bottom Line: Don’t judge this book by its name or cover because the only person who won’t enjoy this book are those who don’t like their sex hot!”– Rakehell - Regency reviews

by Jordan February 21st, 2006 at 5:09 pmThanks guys! I got kinda stuck on how funny the review was, and then I took the time to read it thoroughly. It is a great review. I’m grateful for it.
by SylviaIt is a great review Sylvia, and I admit, very interesting. As a reader and amateur reviewer myself, I do want to convey my thoughts on the book without giving too much away, yet at the same time make it interesting. I don’t think my reviews are going to really change a person’s mind, but I do enjoy writng them. Thanx for the link!
by Stacy ~ February 22nd, 2006 at 3:59 amLOL - that’s a great one Sylvia.
Your book was the first “Bad Boys” title I picked up. And I picked it up in spite of the title, not because of it. The stories sounded (and are!) great. But the title… well, it doesn’t do a lot for me. The book, however, rocked :cheer:
I picked up another Bad Boys title yesterday, and so far I’m really liking it too. Which shows you can’t judge a book by it’s title
Nalini Singh blogged today about titles a bit too - seems to be a theme!
