I think I’m starting to get better. I’m still a bit sickly, but it’s not worsening, so I think I’m on the mend. I’m telling you, that No Time For Colds stuff works.
I was thrilled to discover that BAD BOYS AHOY! received a wonderful review from Just Erotic Romance Reviews, including a Gold Star Award for “Lucien’s Gamble”–my first Gold Star ever. :cheer:
“Blatantly erotic, rich in emotional growth and with enough detail to know Ms. Day has done her homework of the Regency period, Lucien’s Gamble is a book that deserves much praise for its excellent writing. Lucien’s Gamble is a keeper and a winner all round. I highly recommend this passionately erotic tale of romance, which is the reason I believe it deserves the Gold Star Award.”
Tomorrow, I’m taking Shanna to the doctor for her kindergarten physical. She’s so excited about starting school. I am, too. I know she’ll have fun and the quiet time for writing will be welcome.
Anyway, I’m in the mood to give away something so tell me what I should have on my website that I don’t. Or something I have on my website that should go. Winner gets their choice of either an autographed copy of BBA or an ASK FOR IT tote bag. Everyone else can have an ASK FOR IT coverflat and some of my new bookmarks. Everybody plays, everybody wins. *g*

I’d like to see more articles on marketing, since you seem to be doing a darn good job of it. (I see you already have one on weblogs, but what else is working for you??) Also, articles on how you, as a relatively new author, are developing your career would be fabulously helpful.

Hey Sylvia, congrats on the Gold Star. You deserve it. Lucien was yummy
Oh cute little Shanna i starting school. I love it when kids are excited about going - makes it easier on everyone.
I like Ellen’s suggestions, but as a reader, I like to learn a bit more about the author, so I enjoy the posts about signings and things like that. I also enjoy hearng about other interests an author has, like fave music, movies, any hobbies or interests (wine, cooking, travel). A little something for everyone, I guess.

Congrats on the Gold Star! You seem to have everything covered on your site; perhaps some information about how you came up with the settings for your books and if they are similar to a real place, etc.

congrats on the Gold Star!! Lucien, well, what can I say? you know how much I love that book lol:yay:
I think an “Ask the Author a Question” type section would be cool. a section where you don’t need to email but rather just post a question and then you can answer there. would be neat.

Ellen,
Promotion… ugh. I get at least one email a day that talks about my great promotions, which is gratifying, because I do work hard at it, but I have no idea what they’re talking about. Is it the print ad campaign? Mailings to readers and booksellers? Web presence? A combination of all three? I dunno. I can list the things I do, I guess, but I couldn’t say what it is that’s working, or not working. I can say it all costs money, but I’m a HUGE believer in spending money on promotion.
Many authors disagree, but I think we all have to do what we feel comfortable doing, and for me, I’d feel very uncomfortable NOT spending money on promotions.

Your site is really great! You have most of the things I usually want to see in authors sites. I specially love the behind the scenes bits about your books, and I always like to see more. Any kind of trivia related to the books too. If you use photos to visualize your hero and heroine or for inspiration, I like to see those
Congrats on the Gold Star Award!
