Galleys arrived today for ASK FOR IT. Yes, you read that right. Those of you who have pre-ordered it, have purchased a book that doesn’t really ‘exist’…yet. It’s here. In my house.
Any last minute suggestions? Should I add an alien? Or a goat? Or a secret :baby: ?
I’m totally into finishing the last read-through of this ms. I’m ready to be done reading/editing/rewriting/tweaking it. Forever! There have been posts around the blogsphere lately about first books. Well, this one’s mine. I remember sitting in a workshop in Reno last summer and having a friend tell me that she’d heard it was a good idea to save that first ms so when your option came up and you wanted out (for whatever reason), you could send in that first ‘work of art’ and scare the shit out of your editor. *g* That was not my intent when I sent it in as my option book. I just knew that if I started something else, that first book would sit here and get older. I figured it had to give it a shot before I buried it. By the time Reno came around, I was two weeks away from the deadline for it.
BTW, I changed the excerpt. I had the prologue and first chapter up for a long time. Over a year. I swapped it out a week or so ago for a different scene. I’ll be changing it every now and again until the release date. (July 25th - which means BN.com and BAMM will start shipping it in early July.) Did I mention it’s sitting right here?
I’ve got neat AFI stuff in the works, too. Can’t wait to show you!
The publicity dept. at Avon sent me a very long form to fill out today. Items of information they’ll use to finalize their marketing plan for MY IMMORTAL. It’s my first experience with this, and it’s neat to see all the avenues they pursue and how much of what I’ve been doing myself will now be done by them.
