First, I’m thrilled to announce my latest sale (which happened on Friday)! A new three-book deal with Kensington! These books will not be historicals, but I will continue to write historicals in addition to these new books. This makes eight single titles sold since February–two to Avon and six to Editorial Goddess Kate Duffy, who has single-handedly taken me from aspiring author to one contracted to write nine books for her. (I owe her six of these. One, however, is finished and just needs polishing.) I’m sold out for awhile. With six single titles to write (for both Avon and Kensington) and one full ms edit, I’ll be busy for some time. I’m super thrilled. I’ve been *happy dancing* like crazy. Kate says my enthusiasm is wonderful (though I know I scare her with it sometimes). I hope I never get over being happy-beyond-belief to have sold a book.
Second, I finally turned in the non-fiction essay I agreed to write. It was absolutely the most difficult thing I’ve ever written in terms of not finding enough worthy material. I turned it in short of word count and unhappy with the result, but there wasn’t anything else I could do. Either the editor will help me with some direction, or it won’t be used. (I can’t see anyone liking it as is) I’m so relieved to not stare at it anymore in misery, that I’m completely pepared for either outcome.
It’s hard for me to believe that Atlanta is coming up so quickly. Three weeks from tomorrow, I’ll be meeting some of you for the first time. I can’t wait! While conferences and conventions are exhausting, they’re still a nice break and a great chance to just hang out with friends for a week.
All About Romance’s new “At the Back Fence” column is up. It’s about pirates and has a little contribution by me, as well as Leslie LaFoy, Cheryl Sawyer, Jennifer Ashley, Gaelen Foley, Sabrina Jeffries, and Susan Grant.
I have a deadline rushing up fast, so I best get back to work. ((hugs))
