I’m nearly hoarse from shouting almost non-stop the last few days. One thing about conferences–the volume of voices is deafening. You can be standing shoulder to shoulder with someone and be shouting at them in order to be heard. Seriously. It’s hard to describe the noise. It’s just unbelievable. My throat hurts.
I taught two workshops today–the editor/author relationship and dialogue in erotic romance. The latter workshop was nearly packed, and my fellow speakers were funny and brilliant.
My fabulous find for the day was the Waldenbooks new release newsletter “Romantic Reader”, the one they hand out freely in the store. ASK FOR IT is showcased in technicolor and looks so pretty.
The amazing (and fun) thing about the reports I’m getting on ASK FOR IT are requests for the stories of secondary characters, namely Christopher and Marcus’ two brothers. I’ve heard quite a few complaints about the proliferation of historical series, but really, it’s a big request. I received a lot of requests for Fontaine’s story when BAD BOYS AHOY! came out, too. For those of you who wanted to read about him, I’m thinking the novella for the Susan Johnson antho might be his, but I really haven’t decided yet.
My plane flies out tomorrow night. Then I’ll probably be back in the saddle on Monday. (Let’s hope.) I love conferences, but they’re exhausting. *g*
