Dream Guardians

I’ve finally got backcover copy for Pleasures of the Night!

Dream GuardiansIn the Twilight between sleep and consciousness, a battle rages between Dream Guardians and Nightmares. Captain Aidan Cross is a legend, as skilled in fulfilling erotic dreams as he is with the glaive that kills his enemy. Women see Aidan as part of their fantasies…except Lyssa Bates. Exquisite, desirable, enigmatic Lyssa perplexes this immortal seducer because she sees him as he really is. And as he attempts to unravel her secrets the unthinkable occurs: Aidan Cross falls in love.

Lyssa has been having the most incredible dreams about a man whose blue eyes hold the promise of decadent pleasures and tempting intimacies. And then he appears on her doorstep! This intoxicating stranger is just as irresistible as the man of her dreams… but with her surrender there is also grave danger…

Because Aidan is on a mission, and the passion that consumes them body and soul could have dire consequences. Loving the mortal woman prophesied to destroy Aidan’s world is not only impossible… it is forbidden…

Ten on Tuesday #4

Ten on Tuesday10 Resolutions for the New Year

1.) Spend more time with my kids.

2.) Work less. I’m not sure how I’m going to pull that off since I’m contracted through mid-2008, but I do need to cut back and I will.

3.) Go to the gym more often. I slacked off when my writing schedule picked up and I’m feeling the effects. They’re not good.

4.) Cook at home more often.

5.) Promote less.

6.) Take a family vacation. Somewhere. :)

7.) Cut down on my outside commitments. I need more downtime.

8.) Work on my fear of speaking in public. I seriously need to get over it.

9.) Reevaluate my career.

10.) Spend more time with my friends. I’m thinking of putting together some type of mass-vacation. We’ve done those before and they’re a blast!

I can’t believe 2006 is almost over. Wow! That makes me panic because I have two deadlines rushing up like freight trains… *gulp*

The Stranger I MarriedToday is the official pub date of THE STRANGER I MARRIED. I know some readers have already found TSIM on the shelf in their local bookstore and some readers won’t find it out until January 1st, but I’m celebrating today. *g*

I’m over at both RTB and the Brava Authors blog. There’s an excerpt up at the Brava blog, if you’d like to check it out.

Hugs!

Venus Envy

Venus EnvyVENUS ENVY by Shannon McKelden

(TOR Books, December 26, 2006)

Take one hunky firefighter, one stubborn “Cinderella,” and one very reluctant fairy godmother and what do you get?

Rachel Greer wants no part of Venus’s scheme to land Mr. March as her Prince Charming, but Venus is determined to do just that. She’s only a few love-life fixes short of returning to her former goddess status, and she’s not letting one mulish mortal stand in her way.

It appears the only way Rachel can get rid of the very un-Disney-like fairy godmother is to play along. So she follows Venus’s plan to interview Luke Stanton’s ex-girlfriends…which Venus believes will cure Rachel’s relationship fears, but which Rachel knows will only prove her point that men are never what they appear to be.

But, when Venus’s plan appears to work, and Rachel and Luke fall in love, does Rachel dare set aside her fears about happily ever? Or will betrayal send her back into relationship seclusion…this time forever?

And what happens when a goddess-turned-fairy godmother breaks the most important rule–protecting herself from human emotions?

Thirteen #3

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things I Love About Winter Break

1.) I get to sleep in.

2.) My kids are home and I get to spend time with them. They’re growing up so fast. Last night we watched my daughter perform in the kindergarten Nutcracker. My mom mentioned my son’s performance the year before and I said, “Mom, that was two years ago.” And boy, did that hit me hard. Two years. It seems like two months!

3.) My stepson comes home from school. We miss him, so it’s good to have him home for the holidays.

4.) We go to my SIL’s for Christmas dinner, which we enjoy on Christmas Eve so that we can all stay home on Christmas Day. My SIL is a gourmet cook and food at her house always freakin’ rocks!

5.) I get to sleep in. (Blessed be!)

6.) The colder weather. I live in So. Cal., so it’s pretty much the same temperature all year long (except for the middle of summer, when it’s hot as hell. Seriously. HOT.) I especially love it if it rains, but that doesn’t happen near as often as it should.

7.) Everything seems to slow down during the holidays. (I’m sure of you are thinking, “Slow down? Wassat?”, but for me, life slows down some and that’s nice.)

8.) Enjoying more cold weather foods — soups, stews, chilis, hot chocolate, tea.

9.) I get to sleep in. (Oh joy! I love it!)

10.) Most days I don’t have to be anywhere at any time. :)

I’ve got more coming, but I’m seriously falling asleep at the wheel here. More in the morning…

I’m still working on it…
