Um-kay… this was a head scratcher for our house. It was one of those movies where THE END appears and you sit there a moment or two in stunned silence trying to figure out WTF happened. Hubby said, “I was robbed. Out of two hours of my life.” *sigh*
I have no idea how well this story did in the theater or with critics, but for us it was just a series of random events that happened in a scatter shot fashion and then when it was all explained at the end we went, “Okay. But I don’t care because the whole time I was scratching my head going WTF?”
I thought the movie was going to be about two detectives and their investigation of the infamous Black Dahlia murder. It wasn’t. It was about a love triangle between the two detectives and one of the detective’s girlfriend. The Dahlia murder was just kinda there in the background. The act of investigating tied into the triangle, but not the actual murder or really the investigation itself.
Weird.

Sylvia, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw it. Me and a friend saw it in the theatre when it frist came out, thinking it would be about the Black Dahlia, and events that actually occurred. What a disappointment to have it be a convoluted story with a totally lame ending.

I heard it didn’t do well and now I know why. I would’ve been pissed about it not revolving around the murder. That’s the most interesting aspect.

Oh I soooo do not like when that happens! I’ve seen the doc.’s on that whole thing which is why I really had no interest in seeing the movie - now I’m really glad I didn’t!
