This week’s giveaway is for a copy of PERFECTLY PLUM.
** COMPLETELY UNAUTHORIZED **
Speculating about the cultural metaphors in Janet Evanovich’s wildly popular mystery series (which includes 13 books, from One for the Money to Lean Mean Thirteen), this anthology takes a look at lingerie-buyer-turned-bounty-hunter Stephanie Plum and catalogs her bad luck with cars (she’s blown up quite a few), her good luck with men, her unorthodox approach to weapon storage, and the rich tapestry of her milieu: Trenton, New Jersey, also known as The Burg. The contributors praise the way the series smartly spoofs that familiar chick-lit epiphany—I have a bad job and what I really want is a good man!—in “Bounty Hunting as a Metaphor for Dating,” “Why Stephanie Should Quit Her Job . . . but Never Will,” and “Nothing Better than a Bad Boy Gone Good.” Several essays veer from the chick-lit perspective and focus instead on the comic theme of luck and chance that ties Stephanie to the barroom gamblers and gangster meanies of her home town in “Luck of the Italian?: Skill Versus Chance.”
My essay is titled “Learning to Fly: Why Bounty Hunting is More Therapeutic Than Running Over Morelli with a Buick”. You can read excerpts from select novellas (including mine) here.
Just post a note about why you love Stephanie and I’ll pick a winner before Friday.

I love Stephanie Plum because she always has such interesting and fun adventures and always seems to come out on top. Also with two guys in the pictire it’s always fun to see which one is in the lead so to speak with each new book.
And let’s not forget Grandma Mazur who is always a hoot.
To sum it up these books a a fun quick read that always leave me laughing and counting the days until the next insatllment comes out.
What’s not to like?! She’s the epitome of the bumbling detective. An unforgettable combination of Lucy Ricardo’s wackiness together with the bulldog crime-fighting tenacity of Agatha Christie. In short, fun with a capital F. Supporting cast is equally great, especially Grandma Mazur. She reminds me irresistibly of Sophia from The Golden Girls. All in all, this series is a laugh riot.
And no, I haven’t forgotten the HOT men in Steph’s life. But that requires a blog post in itself, nothing that can fit in the comment section, lol.
I absolutely love the way she makes mistakes. Sometimes dangerous ones, but you see her learn from them. You hurt with her.
Her family is hilarious. She truly shows that you can’t pick em, but you gotta love em.
I’m a Ranger Fan.
But, that’s okay. She’s a strong woman, but one that appeals to everyone. I love Stephanie.
I love Stephanie for many reasons - she’s not the best bounty hunter in the world and she knows it, but she tries. She loves her family, even though they drive her crazy, and she cares about people. She knows that the New Jersey big hair look still can attract (some) guys. She’s a loyal friend, takes her responsibilities seriously even when she’s scared out of her mind, and tries to do the right thing.
If that weren’t enough, she has the affection of two sexy men - Joe and Ranger. A tough decision for any woman….
