O happy day! It’s raining here.

I hope it rains all weekend. We need it desperately. Plus, finally, it doesn’t feel like summer. *g*

What’s the weather like where you’re at?

Yesterday my daughter came home from school early with a tummy ache, so shopping time was cut short, but I was still able to cross 3 more people off my list. We’re getting somewhere, at least. So far I’m happy with all the things I picked up. Sometimes I end up with presents that just barely past muster (read: isn’t as good as something else could have been.) Usually it’s because what I really liked was too expensive or I couldn’t find anything better. Not so, so far.

With the rain pouring outside, I think I might light the fireplace in the family room and wrap gifts all day. I love seeing all the presents under the tree.

After school today, the kids and I headed to Wal-Mart to get some Christmas shopping done. We were able to check 4 people off of our lists today, so that makes me happy (read: less stressed. *g*) My mom came over tonight and is staying the night, so tomorrow we’ll head out while the kids are gone and get some more stuff. I’m enjoying it so far. The last three years hubby had to do all the shopping. Who knew I’d miss it? LOL!

I also wrapped and wrote and whistled tunes to our new bird whenever I walked by her cage. I’m definitely feeling the holiday spirit this year.

How about you? Have you started shopping yet? Anyone brave the after-Thanksgiving sales and get a great deal?

Does anyone else think Mel B. should have won over Helio? I was disappointed that Mel B. didn’t get the mirror ball trophy. I thought she most deserved it.

I posted a photo of our new bird in the photo gallery!

Thanksgiving here was awesome. Nice and intimate, with just my hubby, kids, and mom. The food was great (if I say so myself) and for once, I managed to have all the food hot at the same time.

The kids and I got our Christmas stuff out and our tree up. It’s the first time I’ve been able to participate in that since three years ago. (First-of-year deadlines suck. Seriously. Although I must say I’m glad to have deadlines, period.) The kids still decorated the tree by themselves, though, and it came out gorgeous! The ornaments are perfectly spaced and spread out evenly in color. They did an awesome job! We swapped out the normal dinnerware with our holiday dinnerware and it’s certainly feeling like the holidays in my house, even though it’s still 70+ degrees out here.

I still need to take a picture of our new bird…

I’ve been stuck at a spot in my ms for a little bit now. I tried to push through it, but I couldn’t. I knew something was off, but I didn’t know what it was. I finally figured it out, much to my relief. Luckily, because I hadn’t struggled too far past the deviation point, it didn’t take a whole lot of work to get the story back on track. But it sure drove me nuts for far too many days. *smacks forehead*

We’re having the basics: turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potato pie/casserole, candied yams, gravy, rolls… There’s more. My kitchen is full, but my brain is begging for coffee, which I haven’t had yet. *g*
