What’s your favorite gift you received for the 2007 holiday?
Mine’s easy — my sister came home for the first time in a few years. I’ve missed her terribly.

For me it wasn’t about the presents this year. After a long, hard road my sister had a baby in March. This is my nephew’s first Christmas and it was all about him and the joy we had in him just being there.
by brownone December 26th, 2007 at 4:34 amMy best gift this year was a get-together free of drama and/or mishap. Usually, our holiday celebrations end up looking like a Griswold family get together. But this year, there were no major upsets, no hurt feelings, just a great group of people getting together to exchange love and well wishes (and gifts, though the physical ones took a back seat to the rest). And for a family riddled with bipolar disorder, this was some feat!
by MargaySylvia & Brownone, those are both lovely presents.
Me, being more materialistic, well I love the digital camera I bought myself because I really want to take more pictures, and hopefully capture some special memories. Working on it…
by Stacy ~ December 26th, 2007 at 5:00 amI actually didn’t get much this year, but I do love the necklace that my youngest sister got me. It is silver and the pendant is the letter J. Quite simple, but beautiful.
by Jennifer K.My best present was watching my nieces and nephew open their gifts. Some the nieces knew about or thought they did but some they were so surprised. lol. Nephew didn’t know any of his and he loved his presents. He’s 5 and he did get a little mad when his sister and cousin got a digital camera. He wanted one, but he’s too little for a real one. So we will have to get him one for his birthday, the Crayola one for kids. lol
by Amy S. December 26th, 2007 at 7:45 amAfter a rather tough year of illness and medical problems in our family, my best gift was that all the children and grandchildren are now healthy and happy and so we were all able to totally enjoy the holiday season and for that we are so thankful.
by Shari C December 26th, 2007 at 8:06 amMine was a new washer and dryer, this year we bought our first house, and this is the only new appliance we’ve ever had in 10 years of marriage. So even though most wouldnt think of it as a great present. I thought it was the best.
by Shauna December 26th, 2007 at 9:01 amI finally got a picture of my 3-month niece smiling. She smiles a lot, but is mesmerized by the camera so I haven’t yet caught her smiling. Also, it was the smile on my 15-year-old niece’s face when she opened the DVD I got her (she’s been wanting it for awhile).
As far as the gifts I opened, that would be a toss-up between my B&N gift certificate and the James Taylor “One Man Band” CD/DVD.
by Dev December 26th, 2007 at 9:05 amOne full day alone with my husband….just hanging around.
by Kim December 26th, 2007 at 9:33 amThe slippers my mother made me since my old pair finally wore out - they look pretty with the colored wools she blends in with fancy stitches and being more like booties, keep your feet nice and warm on those cold winter nights. And a tin of her special candy fudge - yum!
by Pam P December 26th, 2007 at 11:19 amPhone calls from my sons - scattered across the country - and 5″ of new fluffy snow!
by Karen B December 26th, 2007 at 11:20 amMy new MP3 player.
by Maureen December 26th, 2007 at 11:38 amThat is tough…well, I haven’t received it yet, but I was told that a handheld ebook reader would mine soon (got an IOU)…I also got lots of books and gift cards.
by Jennifer Y.Mine’s easy too, my son will be home on leave Friday, so we stalled all our Christmas festivities to be able to celebrate the holiday together as a family.
by cathy M December 26th, 2007 at 1:03 pmI too have to say that it’s that my daughter and her fiance were able to come for Christmas this year - last year they were with his family.
by catslady December 26th, 2007 at 2:35 pmI got the china hutch I have wanted for years!
by EstellaI got an upgrade for my engagement ring 20 yrs after I received the first one for xmas.
by Pamka MP3 player
by AmeliaMy mother was in an accident on Christmas Eve…her and a friend went to Cincinnati, and they were rear ended by a semi (carrying 78,000 lbs) on the way back. Amazingly enough, they weren’t hurt at all, other than a few muscle aches. I consider it a gift from God that they were so blessed. I’m not an overly religious person, but believe me I took my butt to mass and thanked God for watching out for my Mom. Definently the best gift ever.
by Melissa December 26th, 2007 at 4:11 pmI got the latest Harry Potter movie and an adjustable tray table. The friend who gave it to me said, “Now you won’t have to keep your laptop on a chair.”
by AlyssaI got a digital photo frame. It’s fabulous!!
by Yesy December 26th, 2007 at 5:35 pmWe decided to forgo gifts this year and instead spent more family time together. This made for a less stressful Christmas. Which is a gift in itself.
by Sue A. December 26th, 2007 at 6:17 pm‘Best Present You Received This Year’ would have to be the letter Spawn 2 wrote to me and his daddy.
by Angie-laHe just turned 16 last month and has been testing some major boundaries. Its been a little tense around the house lately.
He wrote a beautiful letter apologizing for his selfishness and lack of maturity. He told us how much he loved us and what awesome parents he thought we were.
I cried. It was one of the best presents ever.
Spending a few days with my sister and nieces and getting a fabulous pair of earrings to top it off also!
by Eva December 26th, 2007 at 7:36 pmI got season 2 of Rome on dvd.
by Jane December 26th, 2007 at 9:19 pmI know you enjoyed your holidays, Sylvia. I would have to say mine is family, too. Dad seems to be stablilizing with his leg better so we had a quiet dinner at home, as much as one could with 2 pugs circling for leftovers!
by Laura December 26th, 2007 at 11:00 pmI didn’t get any presents this year, I did get to spend it with my parents watching movies and having a wonderful dinner so it was really nice.
by Wendy December 27th, 2007 at 10:59 amI was lucky enough to have two really fantastic presents this year!!
The first was my father and brother were fighting and felt the holiday “nudge of guilt” to come to my house(as is the tradition for the last nine years since my Mom has passed) and while here they hugged and forgave each other!!
The second is that my DH and I decided to sell our summer cottage and purchase a friends six doors down!! It’s larger and we’re so looking forward to it this summer!!
Wishing everyone the happiest New Year ever!!
