Do you hang up stockings for Christmas? What’s the best thing you got in your stocking (or equivalent) this year?

We always hang up stockings! It’s a tradition that my younger daughter has taken over - each year, she hangs them in a different place and quite artfully, too. I always get some interesting things in my stocking, but the best this year was a CD my older daughter had created for me - she copied her U2 CD for me so I now have my own!
by MargayMy mother has made stockings for all of us, all different. I have a Christmasy one and one of woven tapestry–that one I keep out all year and fill with potpourri or whatever when not used for Christmas. Best stocking stuffer this year were the bracelets my mother also made.
by Pam P December 28th, 2007 at 4:31 amMy kids have those GIANT stockings! The most favorite thing for me this year was the Target giftcard I got. I LOVE Target. Followed at a close second by the really soft chenille socks I got from my mom.
by brownone December 28th, 2007 at 5:56 amStockings…overflowing ones are the best! I got body lotion, nail polish, a necklace and chocolate. The last is probably my favorite only it doesn’t last very long.
by Kim December 28th, 2007 at 7:19 amI still have the boys stockings but don’t hang them any more since I’m the only one here.
by Karen B December 28th, 2007 at 7:19 amno stockings got hung this year due to me being sick with a cold/sinus and still am not feeling good at all. In place of stockings we used a lovely paper gift bag; the best item were some very very firm support but soft slippers with a good sole.
by RobynL December 28th, 2007 at 7:22 amWe hang up stockings for the kids. They got some good stuff this year along with lots of candy.
by Amy S. December 28th, 2007 at 7:23 amEveryone in our family has a stocking that was cross-stitched by my mother. Mine has angels playing musical instruments. The best thing in my stocking was cash. Although the DVD of Bourne Ultimatum was pretty good too.
by Jennifer K.We always hang stockings! And I got a B&N gift card in mine this year!
by Andrea December 28th, 2007 at 7:45 amWe hang stockings every year, as the kids still believe in Santa and we parents will get something too.
by Shauna December 28th, 2007 at 8:21 amThis year my favorite was my piggy bank full of tootsie pops, I love those things.
I don’t decorate anymore, but I still have my stocking. Everybody in my extended family has one.
by Dev December 28th, 2007 at 10:00 amThe kids get the huge stockings every year and they get edible as well as non-edible little goodies!
by Eva December 28th, 2007 at 10:23 amThis was the first year we didn’t do stockings…but I did get some chocolate (which would have normally been in the stocking) that is slowly disappearing…trying to make it last.
by Jennifer Y.We do stockings and my best present in mine was make-up.
by Maureen December 28th, 2007 at 11:50 amI always had stockings for my children until a few years back when I didn’t have enough small things to give them now that they are in their 20’s. There was a time when I filled two each! One thing we give each other are Christmas ornaments which could fit in a stocking lol.
by catsladyWe do have stockings and the best present I got was a ring and lots of chocolate kisses!
by Wendy December 28th, 2007 at 2:15 pmMy kids are in their tweny’s, and we still fill their stockings every year. We are celebrating Christmas today, so I don’t know yet what kind of goodies the elves might have filled it with.
by cathy M December 28th, 2007 at 2:59 pmwe did not hang stockings
by kim h December 28th, 2007 at 3:39 pmWell now instead of the stockings they get a gift bag full of goodies - like this year they got chocolate, socks, pj bottoms, underwear, etc.
by catsladyDo not hang stockings anymore.
by EstellaNo stockings in our household. But I love to get little kitchen gadgets all the same. And I got some great gift cards.
by Sue A. December 28th, 2007 at 6:57 pmI hung stockings for the kids, actually I tried to,I bought the stick on hooks and once I put weight on them they fell so I placed the stockings in front of the tree.:)
by danette December 28th, 2007 at 7:05 pmWe hang stocking and add goodies each year it’s always a tradition with us something I grew up with.
by Deborah JoynerWe do hang stockings. The best stocking stuffer this year were scratch-off lottery tickets. Several of them were winners.
by Jane December 29th, 2007 at 12:02 amMy husband and I exchange stockings. It’s one of my favorite parts of the holidays. We put in candy, coffee, cocoa, lottery tickets, golf balls (for him), small soaps and lotions (for me) and gift cards (my favorite–Barnes & Noble.)
by Cynthya December 29th, 2007 at 1:12 amWe did not have any stockings here either, but I did receive a tiny one from one author and it’s adorable with alot of goodies.
by AmeliaMy daughter still gets a stocking even though she is 16 yrs old
by Judith December 29th, 2007 at 3:59 ambut the adults don’t get one, a shame really!
I love to hang stockings. While we mostly do it for the kids now, I still like my stocking to have my favorite candy bars, hot chocolate mix and my husband and I add personal little notes to each others stocking…cute and I save them all.
by Shari C December 29th, 2007 at 5:31 amWe hang one for each of the 4 of us, but the only ones that get filled are for Spawn 1 and Spawn 2.
by Angie-laNow that they are young men, we fill them with useful things like razors, shave gel, toothbrushes, etc.
But I always give them chocolate coins, an M&M man and some silly little toy.
We never did stockings in our household. Maybe being from a Hispanic tradition, we found pinatas more fitting. We do a lot of religious stuff the whole month of December- Our Lady of Guadalupe, manitas, posadas, Christmas Eve and Day Masses, and then singing to the baby Jesus and putting him to sleep, that stockings just weren’t that important to us.
by Maria December 29th, 2007 at 11:05 amWe Hang Stockings Every Year even though we have Teenagers now. My best stocking stuffer this year was a 4GM USB drive!
by Pamela Romero December 29th, 2007 at 11:11 pmwe hang stockings every year
by Jennifer Barr December 30th, 2007 at 6:53 amOf course our home has stockings, and whenever relatives or friends stay in our home for Christmas, I make a stocking for each of them too…and fill it of course!
The best gift in my stocking this year was everything. Every year my husbands tries to talk me out of filling stockings and every year I resist, and since he wants to please me, he struggles to find things to fill it up. It doesn’t matter what is in it…only that he cares enough to keep the tradition year after year.
by Mary Ann Piazza December 31st, 2007 at 3:07 pmWe do stockings every year as well. We give tons of candy. Hard to pick one favorite item since I got some great chocolate in mine.
