Your Christmas Stocking Will Be Filled With Little Wrapped Presents

You’ve made Santa a very happy fellow this year. Don’t worry - what happens at the North Pole stays at the North Pole!

I’m sorry I’m so late with this. I was super tired last night and just went to bed. Plus I have to pick a winner from the RTB post the other day.

Today’s question is, What’s your favorite holiday dessert? I have a preference for homemade pumpkin pie. Yum. But there are a couple more I’ll mention, too… just as soon as I finish making brunch for my family. *g*

This one is easy! Do you keep your tree up until after New Years? Or do you take it down before?

We keep ours up until New Year’s Day. Then we spend that whole day taking down all of our holiday stuff and packing it away.

Today’s topic is Gift Books! What are some of the books you’ve received as gifts that you cherish?

What’s a favorite tradition for you on the holidays? Our holidays are really simple. The 23rd is my mother’s birthday. The 24th we get together with my in-laws for Christmas Eve dinner. Christmas Day we wear our pjs all day, play with our new toys, and eat leftovers. That’s pretty much it.

Maybe yours are just as simple? Or perhaps more elaborate?

That’s an easy one, isn’t it? Or maybe not.

I know if I really, really thought hard about it I could come up with a dozen, at least. But the one I’m remembering right now is a small keepsake Christmas tree ornament. It’s from Hallmark and it’s a beautiful porcelain doll in a burgundy Victorian dress. I was about seven, I think, when I saw it in a store and begged my mother for it. I remember thinking that I’d never wanted anything more in my life. She told me no and I cried for hours after we left the store. I was so heartbroken. Devastated. I thought about that tiny ornament for days after we left, and when I received it as a Christmas present that year I thought it was the best gift ever. I was given a ton of great stuff that Christmas morning, but nothing held a candle to that little doll. In fact, all these years later, I still have her. She hangs year-round on a peg attached to a decorative shelf near my front door. I don’t have any of my other gifts from that year.
