:bounce:
I just received my first “official” review of WISH LIST and she liked it. She really liked it. *g*
Since it’s only my second contemporary EVER, I’ve been doing a bit of nail biting.
Title: Wish List
Reviewer: Chrissy Dionne, Romance Junkies
Rating: 4.5 (out of 5)
WISH LIST is deliciously fun from beginning to end. It’s incredibly easy to imagine the Christmas party and Stephanie opening Nicholas’s gift and the look on her face. I almost feel bad for her. Having a secret naughty WISH LIST found by the object of your desire would be incredibly embarrassing. Nicholas is obviously so hung up on her though he’ll do anything to get a chance with her and finding that little slip of paper not only lets him know that she feels the same way about him, but that she doesn’t want to feel that way. Changing her mind isn’t going to be easy, but he’s willing to do whatever he needs to do to win her heart. Sylvia Day creates a heart-touching story with wonderful characters and a plot that goes far beyond just an inner office romance. Definitely a keeper.
Yay!! :cheer:
And yes!! I’ll be writing about the booksigning in a little bit, for those of you who are interested.

Today I received two reviews for two different stories and both contained spoilers that gave away nearly everything about the plots. I sat here stunned, wondering WHY the reviewer felt the need to tell the entire story in their review.
Both reviews were excellent, both reviewers loved the stories, but in the end I wrote to one of the review coordinators with highlights showing the spoilers and asked to have them removed. I’m still debating on the other one…

I stayed up late last night nitpicking galleys, and then woke up early to take my son to school, so I ended up needing a nap. That was nice. Of course, my monsters had to come check on me every few minutes.
Jack (in a shouting whisper): “She’s still sleeping.”
Shanna (not even bothering to whisper): “Yeah. She’s still sleeping.”
Hubby (shouting up the stairs): “Hey, you two, leave Momma alone. She’s sleeping.”
Uh, yeah. I was sleeping. This went on for a couple hours until I felt relatively human and could get back to work. LOL Man, I love my kids.
My hubby calls me everyday on the way home from work, and asks if he should bring home dinner. Tonight the phone rang and I told Jack to get it. He picks it up and says, “Hello? Uh… hello? Oh hi, Dad. Uh… what do you want? I mean, what are you calling for?”
Then when hubby came home, Jack was so excited. “I answered the phone for the first time today!” He was awfully proud of himself, because up until now, he’s been afraid to answer the phone.
In other news, I got a really cool email tonight! It’s my first ‘official’ review of Misled.
Misled was my very first Sylvia Day book and I was completely captivated from the first page! I stayed awake well past midnight, refusing to put this book down until it was finished. The interaction and character dynamics of Sable and Derek had me on a rollercoaster of emotions from beginning to end. Both characters are strong and capable, and the sparks fly between them in every scene, from arguing to lovemaking. And speaking of lovemaking, break out the ice-cubes… you’ll need them to cool down. Derek shifts between tender loving and animalistic sex so smoothly that he had my heart pumping. Hat’s off to you, Ms. Day! Misled is a hot, fun, and exciting read. I mean HOT! - Jolie, Joyfully Reviewed
What a relief. :shifty: Sometimes silence is a killer.

This was an outstanding short story that snagged this reader’s attention from page one! Ms. Day is a genius! Creating pleasing erotic stories that could bring a reader to their knees. The storyline is definitely hot and delicious - fresh and profoundly entertaining. The dialogues are what set this story apart from the rest. Ya know… I had no idea readers would like Magic Fingers so much. No freakin’ clue. But I’m glad they like it. It’s my first, and so far only, contemporary story.
“Oh my! If I’d known Ms. Day could write a story this hot, I’d have been all over her books before Magic Fingers! Black Lace tends to me synonymous with hot and/or kinky, and this story fit right in. The sex between Alison and James was as thrilling as any erotica can get, and the ending will satisfy the romantics. And it wasn’t erotic in the sense that the language was the most detailed or explicit I’ve ever read; instead, what the author put down on paper jumped off the page with all the complete sensuality I could wish for. And though James was still a huge mystery by the end, this short story was fairly well wrapped up. There wasn’t anything that I felt was left hanging by the end, and even though I’d have been thrilled with a longer story (would I REALLY turn down more hot sex? Not likely!), it was perfect the way it was. After reading Magic Fingers, Ms. Day has won herself a spot on my auto-buy list.”

“And it wasn’t erotic in the sense that the language was the most detailed or explicit I’ve ever read…” — You all will remember that this was due to editing.
Now here’s something, I just finished copyedits to BAD BOYS AHOY! and I didn’t think the sex was all that hot. I think my sex scenes in the Brava I turned in last week are hotter. And I’m working on edits to Misled right now, and I’m having to change the sex scenes, because I wrote the book a year ago and the sex isn’t the way I would write it now.

I sent off SEDUCING THE WIDOW today. It went Next Day, because my deadline is tomorrow. Sad to say, I’m usually cutting it down to the wire like that.
I used to relish submissions. When asked in author interviews what my advice to aspiring authors is, I say, “Submit, submit, submit! You won’t sell if an editor doesn’t see your work.” However, submission now is not what it was. Before, a submission was a hope and if it didn’t work out, I could always revisit and try again. Now when I submit something it has to be “print ready”, which means I better be damn happy with it when I send it because there won’t be any major tweaking going on unless it’s at the behest of my editor.
As I go through the edits of BAD BOYS AHOY! I see things I’d do differently, if I had the chance. Part of it is just my nature. I know it’s never going to be perfect, but I can’t help striving for that. Part of it is because it’s been a long time since I last saw this manuscript and I’ve grown as a writer since then. So sending STW off is bittersweet.
Two more Major Tasks to go, both of them need to be done by Monday. Yikes!! I also need to get the goodie bags together. *rubs hands together* I have to get that mongo box off my dining table.
Review:
“Author Sylvia Day has penned a perfectly sensual and erotic novella with MAGIC FINGERS. This one will heat you up and keep you eager to discover the finale. I enjoyed every word of this romance in one sitting. Don’t miss out on Sylvia Day’s latest hot story.” — BJ Deese, ECataRomance
