The Paranormal Genre

How Paranormal Lends Itself Well to Every Genre

Anything is possible with the proper explanation and motivation.

Set up rules for your world and follow them without deviation.

Look at the rules other authors have written…and break them. The success of the genre relies on our ability to write something fresh and new.

The strength in a paranormal story is not in the paranormal elements, but in how those elements affect the protagonists.

Explain. Readers want to know why something works the way it does.

Don’t use a paranormal element as the “easy way out” of a conflict. There still has to be conflict. Even better, have the paranormal elements add to the conflict.
